Flat print FAQ

What a flat print looks and feels like next to embroidery or raised ink.

What kind of print is this?

Every design is a flat print — ink laid smoothly onto the fabric. It is not embroidery, and it is not raised, puff or 3D ink.

How big is the design on the shirt?

In most cases the design prints 10–12 inches tall, centered on the front of the shirt — a bold, easy-to-read graphic.

What does it feel like on the shirt?

Smooth. Run your hand over the design and you still feel the cotton, not the artwork. Because nothing sits above the fabric, the tee stays soft, lightweight and easy to layer under a jacket.

How is that different from embroidery or puff print?

Embroidery is stitched thread, so it leaves a raised patch you can feel. Puff ink is heat-raised so the design stands up off the shirt. Both add weight and a little stiffness. A flat print adds neither — the design is part of the surface rather than sitting on top of it.

Why flat prints for these designs?

Our artwork has fine line work and a lot of colour. Flat printing keeps those lines sharp and the colours true, which stitching or puff ink would blur or flatten.

How do I keep it looking new?

Wash cold, inside out, and tumble low. Never iron directly on the print — heat pressed straight onto flat ink is what makes it crack over time.
